ABOUT

There are times in my life when I have been medicine for some while poison for others. I used to think I was a victim of my story until I realized the truth; that I am the creator of my story. I choose what type of person I will be and what type of impact I will leave on others. I will never choose the destructive path of self and outward victimization again.

Are you lost in your own story?

Therapy provides a safe space to gain personal insight. An opportunity to look inward and explore your true passions.

Learning and practicing “seemingly secret” therapeutic tools in a protected, held space is often the very thing that allows for growth and change.

Your life does not get better by chance; it gets better by change.

~Jim Rohn

In a relaxed, supportive setting, begin to peel back the layers of demands and expectations piled on by a world that embraces busyness over purpose, materialism over meaningful connection, and appearances over authenticity.

Breaking free of the chronic emptiness plaguing society is easier than you might think. Establishing rapport and an actual relationship is the very foundation of the therapeutic process.

A journey uniquely your own.

Your needs and goals are truly the most important aspect. Along the journey, your needs and goals may change. That change is not only embraced but encouraged.

In my personal life, I have experienced major shifts and growth. What a blessing it was to have the space held for me to cultivate change. There were times I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yet with support and encouragement, I persevered.

On the other side of tumultuous times, I was repeatedly greeted with a stronger, healthier, happier version of myself. My personal experiences left a deep and unwavering belief in the power of the human spirit.

I fully acknowledge that change is difficult.

I also firmly believe that it is within reach for anyone willing to invest the time and energy. I welcome the opportunity to travel with you on your journey.

My background is in social work, and by definition that means I believe in self-determination. It’s not my place to solve your problems or tell you what to do – or even give you advice. My role is to provide an environment that will allow you to be vulnerable and explore your inner world.

Ultimately, you will discover that you have everything you need within. It’s really a matter of learning to trust yourself.

A little more of my story

In 2011 I spotted a sign outside a hot yoga studio that read, “5 days a week for 60 days will change your life.” As a recent empty nester, I knew one thing for sure… I needed a change.

It wasn’t overnight, but about a year into my practice, I had my a-ha moment when I realized my life had indeed changed. I was more in my body than ever before. I often found myself the last person left in the yoga room enjoying an extra-long savasana. That was huge for me.

In the beginning of my yoga practice, I was regularly the first person to roll up my mat, after glancing around for signs it was okay to leave the studio.

For most of my life, sitting in stillness and quieting my mind had seemed almost impossible. Finally, I discovered a glimpse of inner peace. I have continued to cultivate that inner peace ever since.

In 2014 I immersed myself in a month-long, yoga teacher trainings in Asheville, NC. This experience took my practice to a whole new level, deepening both my understanding and love of yoga. I left with a new perspective, and my mat became a sacred space for personal growth and healing.

I learned to listen to my body and trust my inner wisdom, and I continue to carry those lessons with me, on and off the mat.

I know that yoga isn’t for everyone. What I also know is that there is something for everyone. And finding that something that ignites your inner fire is part of the journey to becoming the best version of yourself.

The fun stuff:

I am a lover of life and seeker of knowledge on a constant quest for personal growth. At my core, I am a believer in love. I embrace the idea that matters of the heart are the root of human suffering. When you heal the heart: the mind, body, and spirit are free to soar.

The little things I love (they’re really kinda big)… dance parties, puppy kisses, sunsets, friendship, rainbows, handstands, ice cream, laughing ‘til I cry, thunderstorms, sunrise, road trips, arm balances, live music, fabulous food, strong black coffee, yoga, deep conversations, trying something new, foggy mornings, gratitude, kindness, hope, love…
